How to evolve charcadet

Overview

Charcadet, a unique Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX's Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, possesses a fascinating evolutionary path that differs significantly from most Pokémon. Unlike many others that evolve through leveling up or trading, Charcadet's evolution is tied to the discovery and use of specific, rare armor items found only in the Paldea region. This makes its evolution a quest in itself, requiring players to explore, battle, and trade to acquire the necessary components.

Acquiring the Evolution Items

Charcadet's evolution is bifurcated, meaning it can evolve into one of two distinct Pokémon: Ceruledge or Armarouge. The specific evolution path is determined by which of two unique armor items the player chooses to have Charcadet hold:

The Malicious Armor (for Ceruledge)

To obtain the Malicious Armor, players must travel to the town of Zapapico. Within Zapapico, there is an NPC who will trade you the Malicious Armor in exchange for 10 Sinistea Chips. Sinistea Chips are materials dropped by wild Sinistea Pokémon. These elusive Pokémon can be found in various locations, but a notable spawn point is within the ruins scattered across the Asado Desert. Players will need to engage in battles with Sinistea to collect the required chips. Once 10 Sinistea Chips are gathered, return to the NPC in Zapapico to receive the Malicious Armor.

The Auspicious Armor (for Armarouge)

Similarly, to acquire the Auspicious Armor, players must also visit Zapapico and find the same NPC. This time, the NPC will offer the Auspicious Armor in exchange for 10 Greavard Pups. Greavard Pups are materials dropped by wild Greavard Pokémon. Greavard can be found in the southern and eastern parts of the Paldea region, particularly around areas like the South Province (Area One) and along the coastlines. Battling and defeating Greavard will yield the Greavard Pups needed for the trade. Once 10 Greavard Pups are collected, the player can trade them with the NPC in Zapapico for the Auspicious Armor.

The Evolution Process

Once you have either the Malicious Armor or the Auspicious Armor, the evolution process is straightforward. Simply give the chosen armor item to your Charcadet to hold. After that, level up Charcadet once (either through battle or by using a Rare Candy). Upon leveling up, Charcadet will evolve into its corresponding form: Ceruledge if holding the Malicious Armor, or Armarouge if holding the Auspicious Armor.

Where to Find Charcadet, Sinistea, and Greavard

Charcadet itself is a relatively rare spawn and can be found in the northeastern part of the East Paldean Sea, near the ruins of an old watchtower. It is also known to appear in the vicinity of Cinder Volcano. Players looking for Sinistea should focus their search on the ruins within the Asado Desert. For Greavard, the southern and eastern provinces of Paldea are the most fruitful hunting grounds.

Strategic Considerations

The choice between evolving Charcadet into Ceruledge or Armarouge is a significant one, as they have different typings and move pools. Ceruledge is a Fire/Ghost-type Pokémon, known for its speed and offensive capabilities, often wielding powerful Ghost-type moves. Armarouge, on the other hand, is a Fire/Psychic-type Pokémon, boasting higher special attack and defensive stats, making it a formidable special attacker.
