What is MMR?

MMR stands for Matchmaking Rating, a hidden algorithm used by League of Legends to calculate your true skill level. Unlike your visible rank (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.), MMR operates behind the scenes to ensure fair matchmaking. The system uses your MMR to pair you with opponents of comparable ability, creating competitive and balanced games.

How Does MMR Work?

Every ranked match updates your MMR based on the outcome and the MMR of your opponents. Winning against higher-rated opponents increases your MMR more than beating lower-rated players. Improving Your MMR

To increase your MMR, you need to consistently win games. Focus on improving your mechanics, game knowledge, and decision-making rather than just grinding games. Playing against stronger opponents and winning accelerates MMR growth. Conversely, taking breaks after losing streaks prevents MMR decay and mental fatigue. Many high-elo players recommend maintaining a positive win rate of at least 51-55% to climb effectively.
