This shift reflects efforts toward religious neutrality in academic and professional contexts.

Historical Significance

The BC/AD system was developed by a Scythian monk named Dionysius Exiguus in the 6th century. He calculated the birth of Jesus based on biblical and historical records available at the time. While modern scholars debate the exact accuracy of this calculation, the system has remained the international standard for dating historical events for nearly 1500 years.
